Unfair Treatment of People at the Borders <\/h3>\n\n\n\n
There has been an increase in the detention of immigrants and asylum seekers at our borders, including people with disabilities. Not only are people being held\u00a0in\u00a0harsh conditions,\u00a0the detainees (people being held or detained), are\u00a0also\u00a0suffering from a\u00a0lack\u00a0of\u00a0medical attention\u00a0needed\u00a0to maintain healthy well-being.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n According to the Department of Homeland Security Office of the Inspector General\u2019s report<\/a>, inspections of the four detention facilities revealed that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facilities detention rules were broken and detainees are held in unhealthy ways: <\/p>\n\n\n\n To read the report in full, visit: According to Disability Rights California (DRC)\u2019s report<\/a>, there are over 14 thousand unaccompanied immigrant children in United States custody. This number is at an all-time high, as of November 2018. <\/p>\n\n\n\n In California, there are nine facilities that contract with the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) to house immigrant children separated from their parent or guardian.
